Chamaeleonidae
. χαμαί (on the earth, on the ground) + λέων (lion). “Ground lion”.

They are a quite ancient group of little scaled sauropods with separately mobile and stereoscopic eyes. They are more active during transition periods like dusk and daybreak. Chameleons are not active hunters as it can seem. Instead of that they do prefer to take sit comfortably, staying quite for hours and waiting for an unawares pray. They live alone the most part of their life and are quite aggressive against other members of the same species, often considered threatening, biting if provoked. Some chameleon species are able to change their appearance, which is its most famous feature. Whereas some people belief, they are not colorless and they do not change color according to the environment around them; in fact this significant change of color usually express a psychological condition.
